December 11 - Longest Day EVER!!!

Today was one of those days when you have so much going on you don't even have time to breathe. Which, of course, is very important! Don't try this at home - leave days like today to the professionals!
Wendi went to play group that morning with the twins while I graded finals, and then I went to see Quantum of Solace at the theater with the guys from work. I had to leave a half hour before the movie ended (after sitting through the same half hour of commercials and previews Wendi and I had seen the friday before when we went to see Twillight). I ran home, we went and picked the kids up from school, and were on our way! From here, well, I'll let the pictures tell you the rest of the story!

First off we went to the Kirkwood Holiday Buffet, where we saw Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause. Each of the older kids sat on Santa's Lap, and the younger two freaked out wanting nothing to do with the strange people wearing red jumpsuits. You can see them literally trying to claw their way to freedom . As always, the kids were amazed that Santa knew me. It is good to have connections with the big man!

Next we went to Annika's winter dance recital. She was a reindeer. She got an award as the Go Getter of her class. We were very proud. If you watch the video, you can tell she's the best one in her class :) She's really is becoming a great dancer, and she loves it! What a princess!

Lest we forget Hannah, Wendi ran her over to Volleyball practice. She got done when Jaeden's school play started, so a friend dropped her off at the play. Isn't she cute! At this point we haven't taken a breath in about three hours. Not bad, eh?

The last big event was to go to Jaeden's Winter play. He tried out for all the parts, and got Penguin #2. We were really proud of how hard he worked on his lines. He was the only one who got a laugh during the entire performance, just proving that he is quite the ham. He stood next to his best friend Cole, who was also a penguin. The last two pictures of the performance are Jaeden and Cole showing off their "penguinality!"

Last stop was the Peterson family tradition of eating unhealthy food after a performance to reward talented children! Jaeden wanted Ice Cream (Of course he did - it was only below freezing and there was snow on the ground!), so after realizing that most ice cream parlors were closed, and with good reason, we got drumsticks from Hy-Vee and ate them at home.

What a day! We felt exhausted when it was all over, and after six hours we finally started to breathe again. But, this is what happens when you have five kids and one car. Hey, that sounds like a good name for a reality tv series - Five Kids and One Car! Well, maybe not... Anyway, Merry Christmas!!!
