December 18 - Geography Bee

Hannah was a finalist in her schools' Geography Bee. Wendi and I dropped the bubbas off at our friend Amanda's place and went and watched her. She made it through the first round, but got eliminated in the next round. Still, out of all the kids in fourth and fifth grades at her school (roughly 200 kids), she was in the top six! Pretty awesome!

The girl who got number six made it all the way to the final round because in the first round she got a question on Iowa, while Hannah had some obscure question about the Adriondacks. Luck of the Draw! She did get a question right about where Mertyle Beach is - South Carolina!

This picture was taken right after Hannah got out. The two questions she missed she was so close on. Next year she'll win the whole thing - or we'll sell her to wandering gypses to work in a coal mine!!!

All of the group. The boy in the middle won with an answer about the Aztecs. The girl right next to Hannah is Karleigh, who is one of her good friends in her Extended Learning Program (like Talented and Gifted), and the girl on the far left is Jade, who is on her soccer club.

Two very proud parents of their Geography Whiz Kid. Hannah just seems to keep coming up with new talents that impress us and make us feel much better about the genes we passed down to her. Like always, we take total credit for all the good in her, and deny any doing in the wrong. Fortunately, it's almost all good with Hannah!!! We love you!
